Boulder Offroad Vans

Frequently Asked Questions

If you purchase the 4x4 conversion kit with either the stage 1 or stage 2 suspension system, the components allow you to install a front axle to get to the stage of having a rolling chassis. You will have to supply the front axle, transfer case, driveshafts, steering components and shifter assembly. You will also have to fabricate a new transmission cross member to match which ever transmission/transfer case combo you decide to use.

Axle gear ratio is direct relationship to tire size. If you increase your tire size you may notice such things as lack of power,(transmission searching for gears), Speedometer variations, ABS and traction control issues. Your gearing may have to be changed to correct for these issues.

Our most commonly converted vans are Chevy/GMC, from the 70's to present.

Barns doors are not an issue. If you have a GM van with a sliding door, you have to take into consideration the tire size. If the tire size is to wide, a sliding door may not be able to open completely. There are variations on GM standard or extended wheelbase vans. On extended versions, you are gaining about 2ft in the door area.
